Item Details
Fine 19th Century carved marble figure of a young boy learning his alphabet probably Italian. Beautifully detailed carving made in roughly c1850/60. We have been using a gilt stand with blue velvet to display this item and that can be included if the buyer would like it. The detailing on this carving begs not just a second look but many more every time I look at it I notice something more about it like the spine actually being carved, the letters in the boys book. And the look of concentration on his face.

Sadly his toe looks to have been repaired at some time but it's been done well. Few nibbles to the edge of the base but they are smooth so don't know if it's small chips or just a rough edge look for design.
